Our team partnered with Divvy Parking to transform an existing parking meter and access control device prototype into a robust, cost-effective, and production-ready solution. The project focused on improving manufacturability, optimising assembly, and creating a durable enclosure capable of supporting the operational demands of commercial parking environments.

The development process began with a comprehensive review of the existing prototype design. We re-engineered the product to reduce manufacturing complexity, improve component integration, and achieve a more efficient production outcome while maintaining the device’s intended functionality and performance. Particular attention was given to part optimisation, assembly efficiency, and long-term durability in outdoor applications.

A key aspect of the project was the complete mechanical integration of the electronic systems within a purpose-designed housing. We developed and detailed all plastic and metal components, ensuring the enclosure provided adequate protection for internal electronics while allowing for straightforward assembly, installation, and maintenance. The final design utilised CNC-machined ABS components and fabricated aluminium sheet metal parts, delivering a balance of strength, weather resistance, and manufacturing flexibility.

Throughout the project, we produced detailed manufacturing documentation and coordinated the supply of all machined and fabricated components in high volumes. The design was refined to support efficient production processes while maintaining the quality and reliability required for commercial deployment.

The result is a durable and highly manufacturable parking meter and access control device that combines robust construction with efficient electronic integration. The final product delivers reliable performance in demanding environments while achieving significant improvements in production efficiency, cost effectiveness, and scalability.
